On Saturday there was the official, grand opening of Kyiv's Olympic Stadium. There were numerous dignitaries from the political arena and the sporting world with the president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and 50,000 people at the opening ceremony.
The main attraction of the two-hour opening ceremony was a concert by the Colombian singer Shakira. Others performers were popular Ukrainian singers Ani Lorak, Taisia Povaliy and Gaitana – a Friend of Euro 2012.

This stadium was rebuilt just over three years after work began and now it is able to seat 68,000 soccer fans. There are also for them numerous restaurants, bars and shops. There is a special new press seating area, which can accommodate up to 1,497 people. For television and radio commentators there are 366 specific rooms.

At this stadium there will take place the Euro 2012 final match on 1 July.

The last of four Ukrainian stadiums, the new Lviv one, will be open on 29 October. Its inaugural match will take place on 15 November. It will be a match Ukraine against Austria.
